Golf, the gift that keeps on giving.

There are many reasons why I love this game, but every now and then it reminds me just how special it really is.

Winning the PGA of Belgium Seniors Championship at Royal Antwerp Golf Club last week is something I’m incredibly proud of. After more than 30 years as a golf professional, this is my first national title. It may have taken a while, but that somehow makes it even more meaningful.

What made the week even more memorable was having my son Roderick caddying for me

. Golf is one of the few sports that allows us to compete well into our later years, and even fewer give us the chance to share moments like that with family and friends. Walking the fairways together and celebrating the win is a memory that neither of us will forget.

Looking back, golf has given me far more than trophies. I wasn’t the best student at school, and growing up in the north of Scotland I could never have imagined where this game would take me. Becoming a PGA professional opened doors I never knew existed. It has allowed me to travel, meet fascinating people from all walks of life, and build a career doing something I genuinely love.

This latest title is a reminder that golf is a game for life. It rewards patience, perseverance and a willingness to keep learning, no matter your age. For that, and for all the opportunities it has given me over the years, I’ll always be grateful.
